Heliweb Magazine becomes first publication to offer global helicopter industry news via Apple News iOS platform.
Heliweb Magazine announced today that it had launched a news channel within the new Apple News iOS platform to become the first helicopter-based news publication delivering news globally via the Apple global news gathering app featuring alongside heavy hitters in news such as AP and Reuters. The Apple News platform was recently made available on the world’s most popular mobile handset, the Apple iPhone.
In the fast-paced 24/7 world of news delivery, consumption of news content delivered by mobile device continues to grow at record rates as consumers demand technology that provides easy and fast access to news coverage. The global shift in how consumers want their news delivered spurring development of cutting edge platforms such as the Apple News platform and Facebook Instant Articles, which Heliweb Magazine was also the first publication to secure delivery through. Both platforms created specifically to address customer demand for speed and simplicity that delivers a quality web experience.
“We were already working in parallel on both projects, and as it turns out, Facebook gave us the green light first. Apple News followed a few weeks later, which gave us time to refine the Facebook Instant Articles experience for users while we awaited the Apple approval. It really couldn’t have worked out better than how it played out for us.” said Justin Prickett, lead web developer for Heliweb Magazine.
“What we want the industry to know is that we listen to what they ask for. We have heard constant feedback at shows over the last few years about how much people enjoy our website experience and how fast it is. So as soon as we became aware that both of these platforms were being developed and the advantages they offered readers in the digital space over conventional news consumption, I tasked our web team with making it a reality; and they delivered.” Said CEO and publisher of Heliweb Magazine, Ryan Mason.
“We have been very fortunate since we took over the magazine to work with other organizations that have a passion to improve helicopter safety like we do, such as USHST, HAI, ALEA and Whirly-Girls International. We look at these two new platforms not just as the next step in news delivery, but as a platform to spread the helicopter safety message further to assist those industry partners, manufacturers, operators and customers in sharing their news to the industry in the fastest and easiest way possible” he added.
